The Coffin Has Been Sealed........

31st January, 2013

Well thats it. The lid has been shut and the nails are in. Homeschooling is officially over in our house.

Wednesday 30th January was greeted with much delight at 6am by Miss E.
6:30 saw her fed and dressed and chanting, "I'm going to school, I'm going to school". Dropping her off at the school at 8:50 she was buddied up and gone with out even a hug or goodbye. I'm not so proud as to admit that I came home and cried, actually I was crying by the time I got to the car, but even worse when I finally got inside the house. Just as well hubby works from home and could console me.

Thursday 31st did not bring the same enthusiasim for Miss Z..........

No she really wasn't that bad. I did get some smiles out of her....

Master J was so nervous that he couldn't eat his breakfast. But be assured, his appetite is back to normal now.

The end of the 2nd day for Miss E and the first for Miss Z and Master J has seen a thumbs up for school. I believe Master J's comment on facebook was it was cool.

Oh well, I do believe in resurrections, so wont get rid of the idea of homeschooling. There are reasons and seasons for everything and for now this is the schooling season.

Changes

26th August, 2012

I have come to the relisation that if I were to wait until I have the photo's that I want to share with you all, then I would never get anything written in this blog, so for today its just my ramblings.

Well we have had a few changes. Our family has relocated 92km away in a new home and part of Australia. Our previous landlord's decided that they wanted to retire off the farm and move back into town and that ment they wanted to live in their house. Unfortunately that required us to move. With nothing in our price range and suitable we extended our search.

I guess that is one of the joys of homeschooling. We don't have to worry so much about changing schools and all the expenses and stress that goes with that. Having Hubby work from home also gives us a certain amount of freedom as well, with not having to worry about travel.

So God has supplied us a new home. We have been blessed with a larger, cheaper house, surrounded by farm land. It will require some changes as we are now on tank water and we don't have a road side rubbish collection either.
We are also going back to no tv reception, so the good old dvd collection will be getting a work out again as well.

With no street lights or other houses around, I can't wait for an electrical storm to have a go at getting some more lightning photo's.

Anyway, hope life is going well for you where you are.

Bec.

All Aboard

12th July, 2012

We have had a really busy week, but have you ever noticed, that its at these times that the kids can really step up and show you what they can do.

My parents have rented a house not to far from me after spending the last 3-4 years in a caravan and traveling around. This however, is some 440km from where they have had all their furniture and belonging's in storage.

So on Wednesday Nan & Pa picked up Master J and myself and we set off on a whirlwind trip to collect their stuff. This left Hubby and the 2 girls at home.

We collected a truck, Wednesday at 12:00 and traveled all afternoon to arrive at our destination at about 5:30pm. Thursday at 7am, we were on the road around to the storage shed to load up the trailer and the truck. God held back the rain until we just had the trailer packed. We got a bit wet putting on the ropes, but at least we could reverse the truck right up to the shed doors and lower the ramp onto the concrete floor. There was only a little bit of open area that got wet, but overall we and the furniture stayed dry. (until when we were unpacking on Friday morning we discovered that the front of the truck leaked like a screen door on a submarine). We got everything packed and was on the road by 12:30pm arriving home at 6:15pm very tired peoples. Friday 7:30am on the road again to the parents house to unpack, so they could return the truck by lunch.

Ok so the stepping up part happened for Miss Z. You see Thursday 12th was my hubby's birthday. Normally we have a meal out or take away and birthday cake. This was not going to happen with what I just informed you about. So Miss Z, armed with a birthday cake recipe book, baked a cake on Wednesday and then proceeded to decorate on Thursday so it would ready for us all to have a cake for when we got home. She also then made the evening meal for us and had it ready for when we got home. What a wonderful thing after traveling and packing to be able to walk inside have a shower and sit and eat with family. I do say shower first as three years of storage and the occasional dead mouse and the not so occasional amount of mouse poo, will want to make you shower as soon as possible.

So I know you have all been hanging out to see her creation so here it is......

And yes it was very yummy. So I can now tick off that my daughter can make a birthday cake, and she can cook ( That's her yummy pasta dish in the background) for herself and others without me being in the house. Well done Miss Z.

Hard at Work.

13th March, 2012

Wow where has the time gone, next week we will have been in our house for 6 months.

So I thought I would update you on how Mr. J. is handling working from home.
He is loving it. I miss the pay of a full week, but the family time that we now have is great and worth more than the two days pay Mr. J.  dropped to be able to work from home.

So what does it look like to work from home?

That's right, no PJ's for him, but still a bit more relaxed than in an office.

Family Time

December 2001

Part of the reason for moving was to be closer to family, so it was time for a visit. Be it ever so quick, we managed to see everyone. First stop at the middle Brothers House.
Master F.

Master L.

Master L with his Mum and Dad. My middle little Brother

Miss E with Miss E. They get on so well.
Second stop was at Older Little Brothers House. Nothing like a run under the sprinkler on a hot day. Miss E and Miss K decided they had had enough so its just Master R in the photo's

Time for Santa to make his debut.

Trying to get a photo of the cousins together proved tricky, not everyone wanted to stand on the same rocks.

This is as close as I got with them together.
Youngest Little Brother then showed up and after much giggling like a little school girl announced he was getting a ball and chain.
The happy couple.
Then it was off to see the inlaws. The cousins all had a blast together. Finally got them all together for 30 seconds to get a photo.

One of the best things about where we are now living we get see my grandparents. Something we havn't been able to do very much at all.

count the dots....

This is Day 4 of the chicken pox saga. Miss Z is lucky she doesn't have that many spots. She does have a few more on her body though. But what she gets instead of spots is glands the size or large marbles up the back of her neck and behind her ears, making moving her head hurt. plus laying down puts pressure on the glands and then that hurts.

This is also day 4 for Master J. He has copped a lot more pox than his sister. Below is a face shot but some how I have managed to get it upside down.
He has them every where that you could think of and probable more.In the ears, inside of the eye lids, bottom of the feet, in between fingers and toes and other very unpleasant places.

Found out after I bought Calamine Lotion that its not used for chicken pox any more, they think it makes them scare. So no I have burn cream and Solosite which is a healing cream for burns, chicken pox and cuts.

Pox Pox here and a Pox Pox there

Thursday 3rd December, 2009

Thats right today my lovely cherabs are wearing spots. Miss Z all day yesterday was a bag or miserable. headachy, tired, glad swollen behind the ears. Master J was also complaining which then lead Miss E to complain. Nothing an early night and a good sleep will fix.
Then this morning I was called into the bathroom. "Look at these bites mum"
" Um I don't think they are bites" and as more appeared I quickly googled chicken poxs and the photos matched so that good enough for me to confirm it.
Master J doesn't have as many but he has more in his head and on his eye lid. Tonight his eye is sore so I'll be watching that one closely.
Theres always something going on.
